You Can't Catch Me...I'm the Gingerbread Man!

We might have caught up with the Gingerbread Man at some point this week...at least to see which part of the cookie we would eat first.  We used our five senses to describe gingerbread cookies.  We painted and decorated some gingerbread men with yummy smelling paint.  And, we even got to eat a soft and a hard gingerbread cookie!  After our gingerbread activities took place, we wrote some words about our gingerbread men.  Then, we even made a hypothesis about what would happen if we put a gingerbread cookie in water.  We were thrilled to see that the cookie dissolved in water!

After taking a bite of a gingerbread cookie, we counted up the number of kids who ate the various parts of the cookie.  It was fun to graph the results.  Lastly, we read a lot of books about gingerbread boys, girls, babies, and bears.  The kids absolutely loved reading all of these books.  If you want to see your child get excited, begin to chant one of the following sayings from our books:  "Run, run as fast as you dare.  You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Bear!" OR "Run, run as fast as you can.  You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!"

Thankful for Friends

We ended the month of November with a special, Sharing Feast.  In class, we talked about friends, sharing and being thankful.  We also discussed the fact that it is kind to say, "thank you," if someone has done something nice for you or has given you something.  For our Sharing Feast, each child brought a food item to share with our class.  We had a delicious feast!  Thank you to all of the parents who prepared the food, crafts or set up for our feast.  We couldn't have done it without you.

It's a Cranberry Kind of Week!

We had a lot of fun learning about cranberries!  We found out that cranberries can bounce on the ground and float in water!  These two properties help farmers to choose which ones are best to eat.  After learning about how cranberries are harvested, we had a cranberry tasting activity.  We ate fresh cranberries, cranberry sauce, craisins, cranberry juice and of course, cranberry cookies!  Some of us weren't so keen on the fact that cranberries are tart.  However, if you add a little bit of sugar, they taste great!

Any Turkey Can Tango!

We think that our "little turkeys" did an outstanding job at the November PTA musical performance!  Our class was proud to show off all of the songs & poems that we learned during the months of October & November.  There is no doubt that they are a talented bunch!  Thanks to all of the parents, grandparents & other family members who came out to watch us perform on a school night!  No performance is complete without a spectacular audience.
