It's Time for Summer Vacation!

It's hard to believe that we have come to the end of the 2014-2015 school year.  Your kindergarteners have accomplished many things in a short period of time.  They have grown academically, emotionally, and physically over the past year.  The skills that they have learned in Kindergarten will be the foundation for all of their future learning opportunities and for life!

While it is always hard to say goodbye, Mrs. Morris & I wish you the best in your future endeavors.  We would like to say a final, thank you to all of the parents who have supported us through out the year with classroom donations, volunteer hours & gifts.  We couldn't have done it without you.  Additionally, we want to thank you for the many hours of moral support & encouragement that you have given to your child.  This time was well spent!  We hope that your child realizes how lucky they are to have you by their side.  Parent support is key to student success in Kindergarten, but also for the rest of your child's academic journey!

Enjoy your summer vacation!  We will miss you!

Design a Boat that can FLOAT!

Last week, we used our imagination to construct a boat out of aluminum foil.  The activity's goal was to construct a boat that would float in a bucket of water.  The second part of the goal was to have our boat float while holding as many centimeter cubes as possible.  And lastly, our aim was to make the boat using a cool design.  The kindergarteners did better than any of us expected!

After many attempted boat designs, trials in the bucket of water & alterations for the boats to hold more cubes, we had a winner.  His boat held 151 centimeter cubes without sinking!  I think there might be a future career in engineering for some of our budding builders!
