Gingerbread/Baking & Holidays
Our new theme for the month of December is Gingerbread/Baking and Holidays! So, we said goodbye to our forest & hello to our new bakery! The bakery has a brick oven as well as a triple set of ovens to use! The preschoolers have been measuring the ingredients, mixing the dough/batter and making all sorts of baked goods. It makes me hungry, just thinking about it! :)
This week we will be reading the stories of, The Gingerbread Man by Paragon books, The Gingerbread Girl by Lisa Campbell Ernst, The Gingerbread Mouse by Katy Bratun, The Gingerbread Bear by Robert Dennis & Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett. These other stories are adaptations of the original folktale & are a fun twist for the preschoolers. We focused on the Gingerbread's chant during the story & are also singing a version of this chant as well: "Run, run, as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man!"
Our Friendship, Sharing Feast
All of the preschoolers brought in a healthy food item to share with their friends. We chose food items that were typically seen duringThanksgiving dinner so that they would be exposed to the sights, smells & language of them before the holiday. While the preschoolers may not have been big fans of the food items, they did a great job of sharing with their friends. We enjoyed our time together.
