The Season of Winter & Winter Clothes

Each day the preschoolers travel to destinations around the world that are much colder than Virginia Beach!  In fact, the preschoolers are encouraged to look at a world map each day & choose a location to visit.  We have made many trips to Antarctica, the North Pole, Iceland and Alaska.

When the preschoolers are visiting these cold places, they are able to participate in activities such as ice fishing, throwing snowballs, and even ice skating with their friends.  The preschoolers can also climb into a bear cave and look for polar bears or other animals that might be hibernating during the winter months.  We've even witnessed some penguins sliding down on their stomachs into the water to look for fish, on occasion!

Lastly, while the winter destinations are a fun place to visit, the preschoolers have been learning a lot, along the way.  In fact, while they have been having fun dressing up for the winter weather, they didn't even realize that they were practicing some self care skills like zipping and snapping!  Dressing up in the winter area has also given the preschoolers the extra exposure they need to learn their clothing vocabulary.  And, as we all know...when you have clothing items lying around, there are ample opportunities for sorting, counting and folding these items for the next use.
