Amazing Apples

We learned that some farms have animals, but others grow food.  This week we learned all about apples.  We counted them, sorted them into groups and even weighed them to see which ones were the heaviest.  Then, we painted with apple stampers, cut-up our own apples into smaller pieces, and looked into the middles of apples after they were cut open to find a star and some seeds.

One of the days, we read a book called "Who Will Help?" by Roseanne Williams.  In this book, mouse wanted to make applesauce.  Mouse needed some help with the preparations.  However, none of her friends would help her.  So, she had to do all of the work by herself.  After mouse made the applesauce, the other animals offered to help her eat the applesauce, but she said no.

Our preschoolers decided that they did not want to be like the other animals.  In fact, they helped me to wash the apples, cut the apples and even mash and stir some pre-cooked apples so that they could make their own applesauce.  (Not all in the same day.  :)
I am so proud of the preschoolers.  They wanted to help me with all of the jobs!
