Welcome to the Oral Preschool at OLES!

I would like to welcome you to the oral preschool at Ocean Lakes Elementary School (OLES)!
I am thrilled that your child will be a part of our class this year.  My name is Julie Sill.  I am an early childhood educator who is also a teacher of the deaf.  I love learning myself and enjoy working with young children.

Although this will be my first year at OLES, I am not new to teaching or to deaf education.  In fact, because I was a military spouse, I have taught children in public and private schools, ages birth to 5th grade, in 6 different states around the country!  During that time, I also spent some time working in early intervention and was able to work with parents & grandparents of young children who were hearing impaired.  Lastly, I am also an adjunct instructor at Tidewater Community College in the department of social sciences.

If you ever have any questions this year, please do not hesitate to call the school or e-mail me.  I hope that this blog will serve as a window into our classroom.  I feel honored to work with your child each day and I want you to see all of the fun that we are having while learning to talk!  I will do my best to update the blog every few weeks.

We appreciate all of the things that you do to help your child at home.  We see you as an important and invaluable member of our learning team.  We appreciate the commitment that you have made to helping your child succeed.  Please know that we are working beside you to help your child learn to listen and talk.

Sincerely,

Julie Sill, M. DEHS
